The Hen Pen Modular Chicken Run w/ Cover, 8' x 4', Rat-Proof
About the Hen Pen Chicken Run
My Pet Chicken has designed the 'Hen Pen' Modular Chicken Run to address every significant need for poultry keepers to keep their flock safe from predators. It can be used as a run, stand-alone brooder, or quarantine pen for new pullets or injured birds.
With 32 square feet of space, this Run protects your flock while giving them room to stretch their wings. It also makes a great grow-out pen to transition new flock members into your existing flock. (It even works for ducks, geese, and rabbits!
Key features:
- Free Bonus: A heavy-duty roof cover is included that will give the flock a place to hang outside, even when it's raining or snowing.
- Welded 1/2' x 1/2' wire openings and tight-fitting doors keep out rats, weasels, and snakes.
- Welded wire underlayment thwarts digging predators (add shavings or wood chips on top of the wire, so it's comfortable underfoot.)
- It is made of thick, kiln-dried wood.
- Each Run has two doors that you can place in any location on either side of the Run.
- Modular design means buying just one or connecting multiple runs together for even more space.
- You can attach the Hen Pen Chicken Run to almost any type of chicken coop with minor modifications.

Assembly Notes
All the hardware is included, plus a screwdriver and awl, and most holes are pre-drilled. Zip ties are included with your purchase to secure the welded wire floor to your Hen Pen Chicken Run, and additional zip ties will be included with the optional Cover to attach it to your Run. A copy of the instructions will be included. With two people, allow approximately 30 minutes to assemble; with just one, allow 45 minutes or so.
To attach the Hen Pen Chicken Run to your coop or other structure, you may either remove one of the Run's panels entirely and secure that open panel by sinking the screws you removed from the Run into your existing structure. If you desire a smaller opening, you may use wire snips to cut a hole of the desired size and shape in the welded wire. We leave the attachment up to you!
More Space Makes a Happier Flock
Each bird in your flock needs at least ten square feet of space outdoors. Like every one we sell at My Pet Chicken, this chicken run is NOT intended for full-time confinement. The Run is convenient when you can't let your flock roam freely, but make sure your flock has several hours per day free-ranging, OR you can daisy-chain multiple runs together to create a much larger space suitable for full-time confinement. The more run space they have, the happier your flock will be! (Plus, the more you buy, the more you save!)
Predation Prevention
Today's fluffy, fat, slow pet chickens are like sitting ducks! They have no way to protect themselves from predators, so the chicken keeper's job is to ensure they're safe. The Hen Pen chicken run has two heavy-duty barrel bolts on each door. Plus, there's a new security feature! Your purchase now includes, at no extra charge, a half-inch hardware cloth 'floor' with zip ties to secure it to your Run and keep rodents and digging predators from gaining entry.
Protect Your Run Purchase...
With a yearly stain or seal. The natural wood material will break down over time. If you do not, you can realistically expect six to eight years of use out of this Run. If you keep it in good shape by sealing it annually, you'll have it for many years.
Enhancements and Modifications
